Core training exercises help to build muscle strength and reduce the risk of injury, and are also essential for rehabilitating muscles after injury.

Calf Raise

Main muscles worked: calf (gastroc)

  1. Stand on the Gyroboard with heels over edge and toes on board.
  2. Rise up on toes slowly.
  3. Lower heels back down over the edge slowly.
  4. Repeat steps 2-3 for desired amount of reps.
Variation: Perform on one leg only


Ankle Rocker

Main muscles worked: ankle stabilizers

  1. Stand on the Gyroboard with feet across board.
  2. Rock backwards and forwards.



Press Ups

Main muscles worked: abs, triceps, serratus anterior

  1. Lie face down with arms on the Gyroboard in press-up position.
  2. Raise and lower body slowly, keeping torso and legs straight.
  3. Repeat for desired amount of reps.
DO NOT OVER-EXTEND ELBOWS


Squat

Main muscles worked: abdominals, quads

  1. Stand on the Gyroboard with feet shoulder width apart, hands in front.
  2. Slowly lower body by bending knees and hips, until thighs are parallel with floor.
  3. Keep knees behind toes.

Variation: feet together


Hammer Squat

Main muscles worked: abdominals, quads

  1. Stand at one side of the Gyroboard, facing away.
  2. Place one leg behind, resting foot on the Gyroboard.
  3. Bend front leg and lower body, whilst bracing abdominals and keeping back straight.

Repeat for desired number of reps.
